The fourth race of the 2025 Formula 1 season will get underway at 5:00 PM with the Bahrain Grand Prix. On pole position is Oscar Piastri, who lived up to expectations by putting his McLaren at the front of the grid. This marks the Australian’s second pole position of the season, replicating his success from the Chinese Grand Prix. Alongside the McLaren driver is George Russell, who delivered a superb performance to once again grab a front-row start with a very lively Mercedes, which also looked strong in race pace.

The second row features a strong lineup with Charles Leclerc, who put in a great lap on his only real Q3 attempt to take third. Starting next to the Monegasque driver is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the promising young Mercedes driver from Bologna, who had boldly stated on Friday that he was aiming for a top-five spot. The standout performer of qualifying was undoubtedly Pierre Gasly, who will start fifth in his Alpine. Next to him is a disappointing Lando Norris, only sixth despite having a McLaren clearly superior to much of the field.

The fourth row starts with Max Verstappen, only seventh after a very eventful qualifying session, beginning with a tricky Q1. Lining up next to the four-time world champion is Carlos Sainz, who delivered a great qualifying session, unlike Alexander Albon who was eliminated in Q1. On the fifth row is a lackluster Lewis Hamilton, who couldn’t do better than ninth. Alongside the seven-time world champion is Yuki Tsunoda.

Statistics and Past Editions of the Bahrain Grand Prix

Tomorrow’s race will be the 21st edition of the Bahrain Grand Prix since it was introduced to the calendar, with the first taking place in the 2004 season, won by Michael Schumacher. Only once has the race not taken place – back in 2011 – when political unrest and widespread protests led the FIA to cancel that season’s opening race.

In the last two editions, Red Bull dominated with back-to-back wins by Max Verstappen. The driver with the most wins at the Sakhir circuit is Lewis Hamilton, with five victories, followed by Sebastian Vettel with four and Fernando Alonso with three. The team with the most wins in Bahrain is Ferrari, with seven, followed by Mercedes with six, and Red Bull 4.

The driver with the most podium finishes in Bahrain is again Hamilton, with 11, followed by Kimi Räikkönen with 8 and Vettel with 5. Among active drivers, Alonso and Verstappen each have 4 podiums, while Leclerc has 2. In terms of constructors, Ferrari leads with 17 podiums, just one ahead of Mercedes. Red Bull is in third with 10.
