Lewis Hamilton certainly didn’t shine in Friday’s two free practice sessions, with the Briton only managing the thirteenth fastest time.
It was a very tough Friday for Lewis Hamilton, who finished just 13th in the second free practice session. The seven-time world champion struggled, missing his qualifying simulation run and failing to find the right pace on the softest compound. He ended the session seven tenths behind his teammate Leclerc and over a second off Lando Norris’s benchmark time.

A challenging day for the former Mercedes driver, who spoke to Sky Sport Italia after the session and summed up his tough Friday in Saudi Arabia: “Today was a tough day. We’re still trying to find the right balance between the front and rear axles, and at the moment I’m still struggling to deliver consistent performance over a full lap. There’s work to do tonight, but the team is fully focused on it and we’ll keep pushing hard to find the improvements we need.”
The briton then added: “Today didn’t go the way we wanted. I think getting the tyres to work properly was really difficult for me. We simply struggled to get them into the right window. Normally on Saturdays I’ve been going backwards, but this time there’s not much further back to go from where I am now. . Hopefully, I can make some good improvements between now and tomorrow. There were some moments in the session where I felt good, but I still haven’t found the right feeling with the Softs. We’ll need to make some changes overnight and hopefully tomorrow we’ll see the results.
