Kimi Antonelli back in the points after finishing sixth at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Andrea Kimi Antonelli, after an unfortunate stint in Bahrain, returned to the points by finishing sixth at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. A fairly cautious and orderly race from the young Mercedes driver, who tried to battle with the top four but without much luck. Still, it was a more than positive result for the 18-year-old, who managed to finish just behind his teammate Russell.

Here’s what he said after the race in Jeddah: “It was a challenging race, but overall I can be satisfied with the result. I had quite a bit of understeer in the first stint on the mediums, and the front tires degraded fairly quickly. That affected my initial pace. After the pit stop, the car responded better on the hards, and in the final laps, the pace was good. Still, I had to manage tire temperatures the whole time, which remained a critical issue throughout the race.”

The Bologna-born driver then added: “Despite the difficulties, I gathered some useful insights today. It’s been an intense first round of races, during which I’ve learned a lot. There’s plenty of material to work on, but I’m motivated to grow and improve already starting from Miami. Communication with the team is good — everyone is giving their all to keep making progress and build on the work we’ve done in this first part of the season.”
