Ferrari, Hamilton already raises the white flag for 2025: ‘It will be the same in Miami, it’s going to be a tough year.’

Lewis Hamilton, without mincing words, analyzed what happened in the first part of this season.

A Ferrari with two faces – and it’s not the first time this season. The Saudi weekend highlighted a completely different form between the two red-suited drivers, with Leclerc driving incredibly to secure his first win of the season, while Hamilton, struggling throughout the weekend, couldn’t do better than seventh place, finishing nearly half a minute behind his teammate.

The first part of the championship has been decidedly complicated for Lewis who, apart from the standout race in China, hasn’t managed to match Leclerc’s level, often languishing in the lower end of the points-paying positions. This was the British driver’s comment after yesterday’s race: “It was horrible, not enjoyable at all. I was sliding everywhere. In the first stint I had a lot of oversteer, and the car just wouldn’t turn, with massive degradation. In the second stint I found a slightly better balance, but I was still completely lacking pace, so yeah, overall it went pretty badly.”

Hamilton then continued his analysis: “I don’t have an answer. I’m struggling. The balance… I’m struggling to feel the car underneath me. But yeah, there’s nothing specific. There’s nothing you can point to and say, ‘There, that’s the issue.’ I think I’ll struggle in Miami too. I don’t know how long this will continue, but it’s definitely frustrating.”

The comparison with Leclerc is already becoming uncomfortable. Here’s what Lewis had to say about it: “Well, I mean, he’s been driving this car for a long time, so he definitely knows it really well. There’s certainly a lot to look at in the data. Honestly, it doesn’t look like there’s a huge difference. It’s just that you’re slower in the corners. We’ve got slightly different setups. I need to see if maybe that’s the setup the car prefers. And yeah, he and his side of the garage are definitely doing a better job.”

And finally, a rather bitter prediction for this first season with Ferrari: “At the moment there’s no solution. It’ll be like this for the rest of the year. It’s going to be painful. In qualifying it’s about getting everything out of the car, and today in the race… I literally did everything, I tried everything, but the car just didn’t want to cooperate.”
