The Portuguese rider from the Pramac team spoke about his physical condition and his return to the track after injury: here’s what he had to say.
Miguel Oliveira is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel: his return to racing is getting closer and closer. Rider #88 will miss the Jerez GP but is aiming to be back already in France at the start of May. After a string of injuries that slowed down his season, the worst finally seems to be behind him.
Missing the Andalusian round is a tough pill to swallow for Oliveira: the Yamaha rider is not only particularly fond of the Jerez circuit, but he’s also aware that it’s one of the tracks where he tends to perform best. In fact, last season he finished both the Sprint Race and the main Sunday race in eighth place, scoring 10 points in a single weekend.
For this Jerez weekend, Augusto Fernandez will once again stand in for him; however, given the official rider’s recovery, this could be the Spanish rider’s last appearance in MotoGP for now.
Miguel Oliveira’s Words on His Return
Following the team’s announcement regarding the Portuguese rider’s absence, Oliveira shared a message on his social channels: “I’ve been racing in Jerez since I was 10 years old. I never thought I’d have to miss this mythical race, but my recovery makes it necessary. I’m getting stronger and stronger and I hope this is the last race I have to skip to return at 100%. Thank you to all my team for the support, family, friends, and fans!”
