The world title battle is heating up in the intermediate category, and the next stop is Spain, just a few days away.
Aron Canet, Manu Gonzalez, and Jake Dixon are the main contenders in the title fight, with only 12 points separating the first from the third in the provisional standings. As a result, minimizing mistakes on the track will be crucial for the championship.
This weekend’s race is expected to be a fierce one, as none of the three riders has ever dominated the Andalusian circuit in this category—although Canet did win here back in 2017 when he was still racing in Moto3.
Among the rookies, the favorites appear to be Dani Holgado and Collin Veijer. Team Aspar’s #27 has made a stunning debut in the intermediate class: currently fourth in the standings after an impressive performance in Qatar, he’s now chasing his first podium of the season.
On the other hand, the Dutch rider Veijer took his only win of the season here last year—a clear sign that the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit suits the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider particularly well.

As for the weather, no rain is expected, but the main challenge of the weekend will be figuring out which tire compound is best suited both for the Sprint Race and Sunday’s main event. All practice sessions will be tricky when it comes to predicting tire wear and race pace due to significant temperature swings between the morning and early afternoon.
