It’s still a Marquez 1-2 at their home Grand Prix, with strong starts also from Quartararo and Mir. Bagnaia ends the session in seventh.
The first free practice session at the Circuito Ángel Nieto in Jerez comes to an end with Alex Marquez on top. The surprise star of this 2025 season continues to show impressive form, helped in part by an extra fresh set of tires compared to Marc and Bagnaia.

Despite a crash midway through the session, the leader wasn’t fazed: the Spanish rider lost the front at Turn 1 but luckily escaped unscathed. The number 73 of the Gresini Racing team quickly returned to the pits, hopped on his second bike, and, showing great focus, clocked the fastest lap of the session. No physical or mental setbacks — just raw speed, as seen from Thailand to now.
Right behind him is Marc Marquez, who faced some minor issues with the fairing but remains in strong shape for his home race. Completing the top three is Fabio Quartararo, followed by Vinales, Mir, and Miller.
Pecco Bagnaia ends the session in seventh place, seven tenths off the pace, with a rather quiet start to the weekend.
