McLaren, statements by Norris and Piastri ahead of the Miami Grand Prix

The words of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, the sixth round of the Formula 1 season.

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are coming off very different race weekends. The Australian McLaren driver is fresh from a win in Saudi Arabia (his second in a row and third in the last four races), which also saw him take the lead in the drivers’ standings—snatching it from his own teammate, who now trails by 10 points. Norris, for his part, finished fourth in Jeddah after crashing his McLaren during qualifying and starting from tenth on the grid.

Miami is bound to be a chance for redemption for Norris, who has taken only one victory so far this season. These were the British driver’s words ahead of the U.S. round: “It was nice to recharge after a very intense triple-header, but now I can’t wait to get back in the car—especially in Miami. It’s where I got my first Formula 1 win, so it has a special meaning for me. The atmosphere the fans create is amazing—I can’t wait to see all that papaya in the stands again. Last week, I went back to the MTC to work with the team and spent some time in the simulator to prepare as best as possible. It’s going to be a Sprint weekend, so there are more points up for grabs. I’m ready for another great weekend.”

Cool and composed, Oscar Piastri is aiming for a third consecutive win. These were his words: “I’m really looking forward to getting back on track this weekend in Miami. My goal is to deliver another strong and consistent weekend before we dive into the heart of the European season. I love the city, the atmosphere, and the people, and the circuit is one of my favorites. It’s also a Sprint weekend, so there will be plenty more opportunities to score points, keep the momentum going, and maintain the positive energy we’re feeling right now.”
