Matteo Bertelle in hospital: here’s the press release from the team

The recovery time for the Italian Moto3 rider turns out to be much longer than expected: here are his current physical conditions.

A dramatic situation for Matteo Bertelle: the LevelUP MTA rider is still dealing with the healing process after the injury. Both the team and the family have chosen to remain very reserved about the matter, in order to protect the young Italian talent as much as possible.

Despite this, three weeks after the serious fall, a third press release has been issued explaining that Bertelle has not yet been discharged from the hospital where he is being treated, and therefore the recovery time is still unknown. Below are the exact words of the statement.

Press Release

“April 29, 2025 – Several weeks after the accident, Matteo’s Family and the LEVELUP-MTA Team would like to share an official update on our rider’s current medical condition.

Matteo is still hospitalized, but his physical condition is steadily improving. Despite the difficulties, he has never stopped showing his fighting spirit. He closely followed the latest race weekend, once again demonstrating – if there was any doubt – his genuine love for this sport and the strong bond with the team.

In the last few weeks, the clinical picture has become clearer: the accident caused serious injuries to both the upper and lower limbs, with particular involvement in the arm and leg. Matteo will soon begin an intensive rehabilitation program for his arm, while the healing of the leg fracture will require a longer and more delicate period.

At the moment, it is not possible to determine an exact date for his return to the track. The recovery will depend on the clinical evolution and the progress he makes – step by step – with the determination that has always set him apart.

The LEVELUP-MTA Team and Matteo’s family are with him every day, looking towards the future. We know he will return. When he is ready, when his body allows him to, Matteo will get back on his bike, on the track, among his fans. And towards that green light that is already waiting for him.”
