The first free practice session of the F1 Academy in Miami has just ended, with the fastest time set by Doriane Pin. Here’s a summary.
This weekend, the F1 Academy lands on home soil for American drivers Chloe Chambers, Courtney Crone, and Lia Block, who are supported respectively by the Red Bull Academy, Haas F1 Team, and Williams. The all-female series had the honor of kicking off the speed-filled weekend in Florida with the first practice session.
The 40-minute session unfolded relatively smoothly at the Miami International Autodrome and ended with Doriane Pin clocking the fastest time of 1:59.153, ahead of Alisha Palmowski (+0.339) and Maya Weug (+0.422). The latter waited until the final 15 minutes before heading out on track and setting a time.

Behind the Ferrari Driver Academy’s Dutch driver came Ella Lloyd, winner of Race 1 in Jeddah, and Chloe Chambers, who was 0.530 seconds off the French leader. The session was less remarkable for the other two Americans, with Lia Block setting the 8th fastest time and Courtney Crone finishing in 14th. Brazilian driver Rafaela Ferreira of Visa CashApp Racing Bulls and Charlotte Tilbury-supported Chloe Chong both spun out but avoided damaging their cars. Wild card entry Ava Dobson finished 17th, ahead of Aiva Anagnostiadis in last place.
Unlike the previous rounds in China and Saudi Arabia, this weekend on the East Coast will feature two free practice sessions, giving the F1 Academy drivers more time to get familiar with their cars and the U.S. track. The next session is scheduled for 9:15 PM (Italian time) this evening to wrap up the day.
