Red Bull is ready to debut a new floor for Max Verstappen as early as the Miami Grand Prix.
The Miami weekend is about to begin, starting with the first free practice session, which will also be the only one. This makes the session crucial for preparing not just the sprint qualifying but, more importantly, Saturday and Sunday’s main events. One big unknown will be the weather, which, according to the latest forecasts, is expected to be variable, with a 60% chance of rain for the race.
One of the most closely watched drivers of the weekend will certainly be Max Verstappen, who just became a father a few hours ago and arrived in Miami only today. For the Dutchman, along with the usual congratulations, a new development awaits: Red Bull will introduce a new floor this weekend designed to reduce tire degradation, which could be a significant factor on this track.
Another goal of the new update is to improve the car’s behavior, especially in medium- and high-speed corners, making it easier for engineers to fine-tune the RB21.
Verstappen himself, interviewed today, introduced the Miami weekend with these words: “It was nice to have a weekend off from racing before tackling an intense weekend here in Miami. The Sprint format is always quite hectic and there’s a lot of work to do right from the start. It’s an interesting circuit, with a mix of low- and high-speed corners and off-camber sections. It’s always very hot, and one of the most physically demanding tracks, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m really looking forward to hitting the track in Miami — there’s always a great show and a fantastic atmosphere thanks to the fans. Hopefully this year we can avoid any setbacks!”
