Here are the results from FP1 in Miami: the only free practice session ends with Oscar Piastri on top.
The first—and only—free practice session of the Miami Grand Prix (renewed until 2041) has come to a close, cut short a few minutes early due to an accident involving Oliver Bearman at Turn 13. The young British driver lost control under acceleration and hit the wall, but fortunately walked away unharmed. His car sustained only light damage, but the crash effectively ended the session with four minutes remaining on the clock.

Fastest on track was Oscar Piastri: the Australian McLaren driver posted a 1:27.128, showing strong pace around the Florida street circuit. Behind him, 356 thousandths adrift, was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in third at +0.430.
Carlos Sainz delivered a solid performance, taking fourth place just half a second off the lead (+0.550), ahead of an impressive Alexander Albon (+0.827) and Isack Hadjar in sixth (+0.840).
Mercedes opted for a different strategy compared to the other top teams: both Antonelli and Russell focused on a race simulation, completing a long run with a duration similar to that of tomorrow’s Sprint. It’s a strategy that could pay off, although the track was still quite dusty and lacking grip—conditions expected to improve as the weekend progresses.

Now, all eyes turn to Sprint Qualifying: the session kicks off at 22:30 CET and will determine the grid for Saturday’s Sprint Race.
