Disappointing Qualifying for Ferrari with Leclerc in sixth and Hamilton in seventh
On the day of Kimi Antonelli’s first pole position, Ferrari failed to shine under the scorching Miami sun. In the Sprint Qualifying session, the two Ferraris delivered a lackluster performance, with Charles Leclerc finishing sixth—three-tenths off the top spot—while Lewis Hamilton, more in form than in recent outings, ended up just behind his teammate.

These were the statements from the two drivers, starting with Charles Leclerc: “The lap was good, but obviously we didn’t have the pace. Tomorrow I’ll try to do something special, but it will be very difficult because this is the car we have, and this is the level of performance it offers. There isn’t a specific problem—we’re simply slow, and that’s a problem. We’re especially struggling in the slow corners, but we knew that already. It’s going to be very difficult to recover in tomorrow’s Sprint.”
And these were Hamilton’s words: “It was a better session than I expected. We’re lacking speed, and obviously we need to work to improve. I don’t think we’ll be able to recover in the Sprint because the front runners are really quick. I always have ideas on how to improve the car, but I don’t know if they’re good ones. We’ll definitely need to go for some updates to improve the car’s performance, because we just don’t have the speed.”
