It was August 30, 2009, when Giancarlo Fisichella secured pole position during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix. A great moment for Italy, but no one knew that it would take 5,755 days for another Italian to start from the very front once again.
Until now… Kimi Antonelli. The young Italian clinched the top spot in yesterday’s Sprint Qualifying, becoming the youngest driver ever to start from pole in Formula 1.
Disappointment instead for Ferrari: Leclerc will start sixth, and Hamilton seventh, as the SF-25 continues to struggle over a single lap.
