The Sprint Race result marks Lando Norris’s return to the top step of the podium in Miami, once again taking advantage of a safety car — just as he did one year ago.
The outcome of the Sprint Race at the Miami International Autodrome felt like a movie with a familiar ending. The ingredients for a repeat success were all there: the Florida track and a perfectly timed safety car. Just like last year, Lando Norris built his first career Formula 1 victory on this very circuit in the Magic City — and this afternoon, he did it again. Taking advantage of the chaos triggered by the rain, the Brit clinched his second Sprint win, crossing the finish line ahead of his teammate – the current World Championship leader – and Lewis Hamilton.
Reflecting on the victory after the race, the 25-year-old from Bristol was all smiles once again: “My luck in Miami seems pretty good at the minute, so I’m happy.” Responding to those calling his win a stroke of fortune, Norris emphasized the car’s strong pace and the importance of timing and strategy: “ The pace was still very good. These races are always tricky — you never know when to box. You stop early, it might pay off — it did for Lewis, he had a good strategy. Or you stay out and hope for a safety car, you know?”
To conclude, McLaren’s number 4 made a hopeful remark ahead of Sunday’s race, where the most valuable prize will be up for grabs: the lead in the Drivers’ Championship. “It’s worked two years in a row.
