Max Verstappen clinches his third pole position of the season, ahead of Norris and Antonelli.
Another piece of magic from Max Verstappen, who dominated the Miami afternoon by snatching pole position ahead of Norris and Antonelli by just a few thousandths of a second. A superb lap from the four-time world champion who, despite a small mistake at Turn 1, managed to improve significantly on his second run, even setting a new track record. After a sprint race where he finished out of the points due to an unsafe release involving Antonelli, Verstappen bounced back with interest.

Here’s what the Dutchman had to say after qualifying in Miami: “It was a great qualifying. We improved the car in a certain way, and we definitely made progress. Honestly, in Q1, Q2, and Q3 we kept improving with every run, trying to push the limit a bit more each time. I had a small scare in Turn 1 on my final lap and lost a bit of time there. It’s tricky to get the tyres to work over the whole lap, but in the end it went well and I’m very happy. You can’t lift off, it’s qualifying and you have to push until the last corner.”
As for the race, Verstappen chose not to make any bold predictions, as the weather could change everything: “I don’t know about the race pace, we’ll have to see what the weather does. But we’re starting from the best position, which is positive. The race will be a different story and we’ll try to make the most of everything we have at our disposal.”
