Williams fa il pieno di punti a Miami: le parole dei protagonisti

In Miami, Williams secures its best result since 2017, with Albon finishing in fifth and Sainz in ninth

At the Miami Grand Prix, Williams delivered another impressive performance, placing both cars in the top ten and securing valuable points for the championship. Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz crossed the finish line in fifth and ninth place, respectively, giving the Grove-based team its best result in the past eight years. The 12 points earned in yesterday’s race bring Williams’ season total to 37, more than double the team’s entire points haul from 2024.

The words of Vowles and the drivers

Albon expressed satisfaction with the race result, especially after the disappointment of the Sprint, where his fourth place was canceled due to a penalty for slowing down too much during the Safety Car period. On the team’s official channels, the number 23 driver stated: ” After yesterday, I just wanted to reset and start again. The car was fast, and it all came down to pace. Being in the fight with the top teams is incredible when I think about where we were 12 months ago. We are showing everyone that we can compete at the top“.

Different feelings for Carlos Sainz, who, despite finishing in ninth place, expressed dissatisfaction with his race. The initial contact with Albon and the double overtakes by Leclerc and Hamilton made the Spaniard’s race more difficult. Sainz said: ” I’m not happy. An operational misunderstanding yesterday forced us to start with used tires. Then, the contact with Alex to avoid Lando damaged the floor of my car. Despite everything, the pace was there, and the car has improved a lot“.

Despite the contrasting feelings of the two drivers, team principal James Vowles expressed great satisfaction with the team’s weekend, as they continue to experience a steadily improving 2025 season: “It has been an up-and-down weekend, but I am really happy with today’s result. After the difficulties on Saturday, bringing both cars into the top ten in qualifying and then scoring points in the race is extremely rewarding. We have scored points in five of the first six races: it’s a whole different level compared to the past“.
