Stunning news from Alpine: Flavio Briatore is the new Team Principal, while Oliver Oakes leaves the team with immediate effect!
The news is now official: Oli Oakes has stepped down from his role as Team Principal of Alpine. The announcement comes just days after the Miami GP and marks yet another leadership change for a team that has been struggling for stability for years.

Oakes had joined Alpine in summer 2024. A former racing driver and current head of Hitech GP, he helped the team finish strong last season, securing sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. But 2025 is a completely different story: the team is stuck in P9 with just 7 points, one ahead of Kick Sauber, while Jack Doohan — still scoreless — is already under fire.
Team Statement
In an official press release, Alpine stated:
“BWT Alpine Formula One Team announces that Oliver Oakes has resigned from his role as Team Principal. The team has accepted his resignation with immediate effect. From today, Flavio Briatore will continue in his role as Executive Advisor and will also take over the responsibilities previously held by Oakes. The team thanks Oliver for his work since joining last summer and for his contribution in helping the team secure sixth place in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship. The team will not be making any further comment.”

Meanwhile, Alpine’s list of “lost Team Principals” continues to grow: first Otmar Szafnauer, then Bruno Famin, now Oakes. Who will be next to take charge of a team mired in internal chaos?
