Disaster for Bastianini at Le Mans: the HORROR race recap

Enea Bastianini experienced a nightmare weekend at Le Mans: penalties, crashes, and a Silverstone race already (partly) compromised.

“Enter, wreck, leave, bye” — as the saying goes. Unfortunately for Enea, the “wreck” wasn’t a good thing: Le Mans was probably the worst race of his entire career, and Bastianini is certainly a rider who doesn’t belong at the back of the pack.

The results so far this season are disastrous — partly due to a bike that hasn’t been up to par. Bastianini currently sits 15th in the standings and is the last among the KTM riders on the grid, with just 31 points from 6 races and 6 Sprints.

Bastianini, a HORROR Sunday!

Let’s take a look at Enea’s nightmare weekend on the French track:

14:11.31 – Exits pit lane for the warm-up lap after switching to the bike with dry tyres.

14:13.52 – Crashes, taking down Pecco Bagnaia and Joan Mir and forcing Johann Zarco off-track.

14:14.17 – Gets back on track.

14:16.33 – Receives a double long lap penalty for changing bikes during the sighting lap.

14:18.02 – Completes the first long lap penalty.

14:19.42 – Completes the second long lap penalty.
