The unbelievable achievement of ex-MotoGP rider Karel Abraham: he just completed the climb to the summit of Mount Everest!
After a career lived flat-out through the corners of the MotoGP world, Karel Abraham took on a new and extreme challenge: climbing Mount Everest. The former Czech rider, now also a MotoGP commentator, reached the world’s highest peak—8,848.86 meters—marking a new milestone far from the racetracks, but just as memorable… if not more.

Born in 1990 and originally from Brno, Abraham spent over fourteen seasons in the MotoGP paddock, competing across the 125cc, 250cc, Moto2, and MotoGP classes. He also had a stint in the World Superbike Championship. His best results remain a victory and a podium finish in Moto2 back in 2010, but he continued to be a familiar face in the paddock even after retiring at the end of 2019.
In the premier class, however, the Brno native never found outstanding success, with his final race in Valencia ending in 14th place and a season total of just 9 points.
Abraham’s Great Challenge
Since then, his life has changed radically. No more leather suits and lights-out launches: Abraham began traveling the world, visiting over 120 countries and sharing his journeys and adventures on social media. His most recent and symbolic accomplishment? Reaching the top of the world from the summit of Everest. Alongside this, he remains a Ducati ambassador.
“There are two ways for a rider to reach the top of the world: winning a world championship or climbing Everest. Physically—and even more so mentally—the toughest challenge of my life” , he wrote with a hint of humor, proudly sharing a photo from the summit.
