A new trophy for the rising stars: the Aramco Pole Position Award debuts

A brand-new addition is making its debut in Formula 2 and Formula 3 this weekend at Imola: from now on, whoever takes pole position on Friday will receive a dedicated trophy. It’s called the Aramco Pole Position Award, a recognition designed to celebrate the drivers who can deliver when it matters most—on a single flying lap, one of the most prized skills in motorsport.

The award will be handed out every race weekend to the F2 and F3 pole-sitters, with the very first trophies being presented right after Friday’s qualifying sessions at Imola, scheduled for 15:00 (F3) and 15:55 (F2). The trophy was designed by Aramco, the technical partner and exclusive provider of low-carbon fuels for all 52 cars on the grid across both championships.

The goal is simple: reward qualifying excellence while highlighting the commitment to a more sustainable motorsport—without compromising performance.

“I’m very happy to introduce the Aramco Pole Position Award. It’s a trophy that represents the innovation and excellence we strive for on track. I want to thank Aramco for their support and our shared vision for low-emission fuels and sustainable mobility,” said Bruno Michel, CEO of Formula 2 and Formula 3.

Khalid A. Al Zamil, Aramco’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, also commented on the initiative, emphasizing how the award fits into a broader strategy:

“We want to support the next generation of talent while testing our low-emission solutions on the track. This award marks another step forward in our partnership with FIA F2 and F3, and we’re proud that all cars in these series already use low-emission fuels,” Al Zamil stated.
