Both delivered team radios that made fans smile — but certainly not them: tough luck for Leclerc and Alonso!
The 2025 Imola Grand Prix was full of twists, and among the most frustrated drivers were Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso, both compromised by the Virtual Safety Car triggered by Esteban Ocon’s retirement halfway through the race, right at the exit of the Tosa corner.

The VSC hit both drivers hard, ruining their pit strategies and costing them valuable seconds. An exasperated Leclerc shouted over the radio: “Unbelievable! Unbelievable! This fing Virtual Safety Car always fs me!”, , while Alonso declared his race a nightmare: “It’s torture driving like this, a calvary! I’m the f*ing unluckiest driver in the world!”
The team radios might have sounded amusing in the moment, but they highlight the real frustration of two drivers who were performing strongly in the early part of the race.
To make matters worse, just a few laps later, another twist: Kimi Antonelli also retired at the exit of the Tosa, but this time it brought out a full Safety Car — perfectly timed for others still in their stint, further adding salt to the wounds of Leclerc and Alonso.
