Ahead of the upcoming Monaco and Spanish Grands Prix, McLaren has unveiled a new livery for the MCL39: a tribute to the legendary M7A, the car with which Bruce McLaren claimed his first-ever Formula 1 victory.
With the race weekend at the Imola Circuit now behind us, Formula 1 turns its focus to what is arguably the most anticipated event of the season: the Monaco Grand Prix. For many teams, this iconic round presents an opportunity to refresh their look with special, one-off liveries.
Following Ferrari’s lead—whose driver Charles Leclerc will wear a custom-designed race suit for his home race—McLaren, current championship leaders, have also chosen to mark the occasion with a tribute to the historic M7A. This was the car that brought Bruce McLaren his first F1 win in 1968, and it was also the debut of the now-iconic papaya orange livery, a hallmark of the Woking-based team.

For Andrea Stella’s squad, racing through the streets of Monte Carlo has often served as the perfect stage to honor key moments in the team’s history. Past tributes have included the 2023 design inspired by the Triple Crown, and last season’s livery dedicated to Ayrton Senna. Now, in collaboration with partner OKX, McLaren has designed a new livery featuring elegant lines inspired by the Côte d’Azur. The MCL39s will sport this look during both the Monaco and Spanish Grands Prix, which will conclude the European triple-header.

Louise McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer at McLaren, said: “We’re always proud to celebrate our storied history. Working with OKX on this latest livery evolution is a fantastic way to not only honor our past but also showcase the innovation and future-focused mindset that both the McLaren and OKX brands share. I can’t wait to see the cars on track over the next two race weekends “.
