Despite Charles Leclerc’s second place in Monaco, negativity still looms over the Ferrari garage. Here’s what happened
Lewis Hamilton finished the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix in fifth place, recovering two positions after Saturday’s grid penalty. A seemingly decent result on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult was overshadowed by a strange and cold exchange on the team radio with his race engineer, Riccardo Adami — an interaction that has raised suspicions of internal tensions within Ferrari.

A Difficult Race and a Struggling Ferrari
Starting seventh after a penalty for impeding Verstappen in qualifying, Hamilton struggled to find rhythm during the race. The gap to the race winner — over 51 seconds — highlighted the SF-25’s lack of pace, particularly in the second half of the Grand Prix. Traffic and tyre management played a role, but the performance gap remains alarming for a team that started the season with championship ambitions.
The Team Radio That’s Making Headlines
After the race, Hamilton first took a moment to thank the team for their efforts:
“Thanks to the guys, like I said before, for fixing the car. It wasn’t an easy weekend, but we’re here and we can keep fighting.”

Adami’s brief response summed up the result:
“We finished P5. We lost a lot of time in traffic, and we need to investigate the rest.”

During the cool-down lap, Hamilton asked directly:
“Are you mad at me? Is something wrong?”
The question received no reply. From the pit wall, there was only silence — no comment, no explanation.
