Dall’Igna on Bagnaia: “No excuses: we’re all responsible for his crisis”

Gigi Dall’Igna, the mastermind behind the Ducati Desmosedici, offered a frank assessment of Francesco Bagnaia’s struggles: “Everyone must do their part.”

It was a bittersweet Sunday for Ducati at Silverstone. While Marc Marquez was satisfied with his third-place finish — made possible by a red flag that gave him a second chance after a crash in the first start — Pecco Bagnaia recorded his third DNF in the last four points-paying races, a blow that nearly rules him out of the championship fight.

Dall’Igna’s words on Bagnaia

Speaking after the Grand Prix, Dall’Igna said: “Silverstone, with eleven different winners in the last eleven editions, once again proves to be unpredictable. Even more so today, with red flags, strong winds, crashes, technical issues and restarts. It was a heart-stopping race full of plot twists, with the field constantly reshuffled — changes at the front, spectacular comebacks from the back.”

“For us, it was a rather complicated Sunday. Unusual, certainly not brilliant, with an overall underwhelming performance. Still, Marc’s effort deserves credit — despite being in difficulty, he managed to turn the situation around with a comeback that brought him to a valuable third place.”

“A result that, under these circumstances, means a lot — especially considering the lucky break of a second start after the initial crash. It was a remarkable recovery, by no means a given, and not easy to pull off. He showed the determination of a seasoned veteran and the grit of a rookie.”

Then, his analysis of Bagnaia: “We definitely have a set of data, dynamics and situations that we must analyse in depth. That’s not just a saying — it starts with Pecco’s difficult moment, after yet another tough Sunday. And let’s be honest, it was also pretty unlucky, considering the promising start to his race. But there are no excuses. Everyone must do their part and feel fully responsible.”

“We need to work together to solve the issues and improve — operating like a true team, aware of our strength and approaching things with our usual humility.” “I’m convinced it will only be positive for us to be pushed to fight on this level, against rivals who have returned to form and are now ready, deservedly, to be protagonists once again” , he concluded.
