Shock in Barcelona: Max Verstappen Is Truly One Step Away from Missing a Formula 1 Grand Prix
Max Verstappen is now dangerously close to a race ban after receiving 3 penalty points on his super licence and a 10-second time penalty for his collision with George Russell during the Spanish Grand Prix. The heavy sanction brings the Dutchman’s total to 11 points in the last 12 months – just one away from an automatic one-race suspension.

FIA Verdict
The FIA deemed Verstappen guilty of dangerous driving:
“The driver of Car 1 significantly reduced speed to allow Car 63 to pass, as instructed by the team. However, immediately after Car 63 overtook, Car 1 accelerated and collided with him at the entry of Turn 5.”
The collision was judged to be intentional or, at the very least, reckless, made worse by Verstappen’s clear disagreement with his team’s request to give the position back.

What Happens Now?
In addition to the time penalty in the race, the 3 penalty points added to Verstappen’s record bring him to 11 out of the 12-point limit, beyond which an automatic race ban is triggered.
