Stroll Bombshell: Reportedly Lost His Cool Before Qualifying, Mystery Around the Canadian Deepens
Shock in the paddock: Lance Stroll’s absence from the Spanish Grand Prix has sparked speculation and controversy, with reports suggesting an explosive incident occurred following Saturday’s qualifying session. According to BBC’s Andrew Benson, the Canadian driver lost his temper in the Aston Martin garage after being eliminated in Q2—posting a lap time 0.535 seconds slower than teammate Fernando Alonso.

Rumors quickly spread that Stroll smashed equipment and hurled insults at team personnel, fueling talk of serious internal tensions. While the team confirmed that Stroll was “visibly angry,” they denied any link between his outburst and the injury that officially ruled him out of the race.
Further complicating matters, Stroll failed to attend the mandatory post-qualifying weight check, earning him a formal warning from the FIA.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso secured his first points of the season with a 9th-place finish, while Stroll remains on 14 points. The result keeps Aston Martin just ahead of Alpine and level with Sauber in the Constructors’ standings, but the Canadian’s absence is clearly felt—both on and off the track.
Officially, the team cited the need for “a procedure to address a wrist issue” before Stroll can shift focus to recovery. It’s worth noting the Canadian previously suffered a wrist injury prior to the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix, where he went on to impress with a strong P6 finish.
