Bottas opens up to Cadillac: “Exciting project, I still have a lot to give”

Bottas apre a Cadillac: "Progetto molto interessante, ho ancora molto da dare"

Interviewed on the topic, Bottas opens up to Cadillac and doesn’t hide his desire to return as a frontrunner in Formula 1

36 years old in August, but the call of Formula 1 is still strong. Valtteri Bottas, currently Mercedes’ third driver, wants to prove his worth on track, and he has reiterated this once again. Speaking on the Beyond The Grid podcast, the Finnish driver expressed with determination his desire to return as a frontrunner in the circus, should the right opportunity arise.

Back at the team where he achieved his greatest successes, Bottas doesn’t seem satisfied, especially now that he is forced to watch other drivers race. He made it clear that his absence from F1 was not by choice, and that watching from the sidelines has only increased his desire to get back behind the wheel.

I’m here without a race seat, not by my own choice. I definitely feel — an emotion that arose right after I found out I wouldn’t have a seat this year — that I’m not done with Formula 1 yet. I still have a lot to give. Formula 1 is still the most important thing in my life.

In recent years driving for Sauber, Bottas said he has never felt so fit and that he has given his best.

I feel that, especially in the last two years of my career, this is definitely not how I want things to end. At the end of last year – in some qualifying sessions and races – I felt like I was performing better than ever before. I haven’t felt any decline in my abilities yet. That’s why I want to keep going. We humans do experience a decline, but I haven’t felt it yet.

Among possible destinations, the Cadillac project, the new team set to debut in 2026, attracts the Finnish driver’s interest. Also thanks to the regulatory changes that could shake things up, Bottas is open to the idea of joining Andretti’s team if a concrete offer comes his way.

Cadillac is a very exciting project, with a fresh and different vision in the world of F1. Joining a team starting from scratch means having the opportunity to make a significant impact, which can be very motivating for a driver. When the rules change, everything can be shaken up, and a new team can even achieve surprising results right from the start.
