Lance Stroll Will Race: The Canadian Confirms His Presence at His Home Grand Prix
Lance Stroll will be on the grid for the Canadian Grand Prix, with the official confirmation now arriving from Aston Martin. The Canadian driver, who missed the last race in Barcelona, is ready to get back behind the wheel of the AMR25 in front of his home crowd in Montréal.

The Silverstone-based team had announced Stroll’s withdrawal shortly after qualifying for the Spanish GP, revealing that the 26-year-old would undergo a medical procedure to address ongoing pain in his hand and wrist. According to reports, the discomfort was linked to surgery he had in 2023 after sustaining multiple fractures—including both hands and a toe—in a cycling accident during pre-season training.
Following the procedure and a successful test session at Paul Ricard earlier this week, Stroll has been given medical clearance to return to racing. “I’m excited to be back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix,” Stroll said. “My goal was always to be ready for Montréal, and I’ve worked hard to make that happen. I’m feeling good after the procedure and got some laps in during testing—now I’m ready. Thanks to everyone for the support. See you at the track!”
Team Principal Mike Krack had previously stated that getting Stroll back for Canada was the team’s “Plan A.” Nonetheless, a “Plan B” was in place in case of setbacks, with reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne on standby. However, both are also scheduled to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.
