Ferrari, Vasseur against everyone: “Someone wants to harm the team”

During the practice sessions in Canada, Vasseur firmly defended the team, also responding to rumors about his future.

Between the first and second practice sessions of the Canadian Grand Prix, Frederic Vasseur spoke out firmly, addressing not only the rumors about his future at Ferrari but also all the criticism and speculation surrounding the team. Speaking to Sky, the team principal dismissed every insinuation, sending a clear message: there’s no time to waste on unfounded rumors.

Vasseur against everyone: the team principal’s words

Vasseur emphasized how certain rumors risk undermining the team’s harmony, fueling tensions that have nothing to do with the reality of the situation. As reported by Sportmediaset, Vasseur stated:

I don’t want to waste my time on these rumors, I’m not interested in investigating or trying to understand. The fact is that someone wants to harm the team. This doesn’t only concern me. When I signed with Ferrari, I knew I would be very exposed, but this is part of the game .

The head of Ferrari’s pit wall did not hold back on the Leclerc topic either: after some rumors resurfaced about the possibility of the Monegasque moving to Mercedes, the team principal firmly defended his driver, reaffirming his commitment to Ferrari:

It is wrong to talk about Leclerc going to Mercedes, when he has repeatedly affirmed that he wants to focus on our project and win with Ferrari. It’s not right; it’s not up to the Italian journalists to decide what a driver should do.

The message is clear: at a time when the team needs unity and support, Vasseur calls for respect from the media and warns about the human and professional consequences that certain rumors can cause:

We deserve to be supported, yet you throw mud at us. We are talking about people, personal ambitions, families who may bear the consequences. One must consider the harm that can be done to a driver’s concentration and to the entire working environment of a team.

Despite the pressures, Vasseur said he feels calm about his position. His contract runs until the end of 2025, but at the moment there seem to be no reasons for concern:

I’m completely calm about my situation. The problem isn’t me. I’m experienced and seasoned. As far as I’m concerned, my contract ends at the end of 2025, and 2026 is near — that’s true — but we have time to negotiate and discuss. Don’t worry, it won’t be a problem..
