The Italian Grand Prix is getting closer: here’s how to reach Mugello Circuit by car/motorbike, bus, train, or plane!

The biggest event of the year for Tuscany and MotoGP fans in Italy is almost here: everything is set for the Gran Premio d’Italia Brembo 2025, taking place from June 19 to 22. The Marquez brothers, Bagnaia, and all the MotoGP riders are ready to battle it out after the break following the Aragon GP.

How to Reach the Circuit: All the Info

By Car or Motorbike

Travelling by car or motorcycle is one of the most convenient and flexible options, especially if you plan to explore the Tuscan countryside.

From Florence

  • Take the A1 motorway towards Bologna.
  • Exit at Barberino di Mugello (about 30 km from Florence).
  • Follow the signs for Mugello Circuit.
  • Travel time: around 45 minutes.

From Bologna

  • Take the A1 south towards Florence.
  • Exit at Barberino di Mugello and follow signs to the circuit.
  • Travel time: about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

From Pisa

  • Take the Fi-Pi-Li highway towards Florence.
  • Then merge onto the A1 towards Bologna.
  • Exit at Barberino di Mugello.
  • Travel time: 1 hour and 30 minutes.

By Plane

Mugello doesn’t have its own airport, but it’s easily accessible from three major airports:

Florence – Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR)

  • Distance: about 45 km from the circuit.
  • Options:
    • Taxi: around €80–€100
    • Car rental (Avis, Hertz, Sixt, etc.)
    • Public transport: shuttle or taxi to Florence SMN train station, then train to Borgo San Lorenzo

Pisa – Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA)

  • Distance: about 120 km
  • Connections:
    • Rental car: about 1.5–2 hours
    • Train: Pisa Centrale → Florence SMN → Borgo San Lorenzo
    • Total travel time: about 2–2.5 hours

Bologna – Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ)

  • Distance: about 100 km
  • Options:
    • Rental car: around 1.5 hours
    • Train: shuttle to Bologna Centrale → high-speed train to Florence → regional train to Borgo San Lorenzo
    • Total travel time: 2–2.5 hours
    • Taxi: approx. €130–€160

Note: There are no direct shuttles from airports to the circuit. For MotoGP, some shuttles are activated from nearby towns.

By Train

Travelling by train is a popular choice, especially from Florence.

From Florence

  • Departure from Florence Santa Maria Novella (SMN)
  • Regional train to Borgo San Lorenzo (50–70 minutes)
  • Alternatively, train to San Piero a Sieve (13 km from the circuit)

From Bologna

  • High-speed train to Florence SMN (35 minutes)
  • Then regional train to Borgo San Lorenzo

From Pisa

  • Pisa Centrale → Florence SMN (1 hour)
  • Then regional train to Borgo San Lorenzo or San Piero a Sieve

From Rome or Milan

  • High-speed train to Florence SMN (1.5 h from Rome, 2 h from Milan)
  • Then regional train as above

Final Transfers

  • Taxi from stations: €15–€25 (15–20 minutes)
  • Shuttles: During MotoGP, shuttles are available from Borgo San Lorenzo and San Piero a Sieve

From Florence

  • Bus line 307A by Autolinee Toscane
  • Connects Florence to Borgo San Lorenzo
  • From there, taxi or shuttle to the circuit

Dedicated Shuttles

  • During the MotoGP weekend, special shuttle services are available for fans between Borgo San Lorenzo and Mugello Circuit

Note: There are no direct buses to the circuit from other cities. You must first reach Florence, then continue by bus or train.
