Ahead of 2026, one Grand Prix date changes: here’s which one (with the official calendar update)
As the 2026 season approaches, Formula 1 has made an official adjustment to the calendar with a notable change: the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be moved forward by one day, from Sunday, September 27 to Saturday, September 26. The decision comes following a request from local organizers and government authorities to avoid a scheduling conflict with a national holiday.

All teams have been promptly informed of the shift, which will bring forward the entire race weekend schedule, including free practice sessions, qualifying, and the race itself.
Pre-season testing to begin as early as January
Alongside this update, Formula 1 and the FIA have also confirmed the pre-season testing schedule for 2026, featuring three sessions before the championship officially kicks off:
- January 26–30: Private testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
- February 11–13: Official testing in Bahrain
- February 18–20: Second Bahrain test session
The 2026 season will officially begin over the weekend of March 6–8 in Melbourne, Australia.
