After days of rumors, the confirmation has arrived. Next year, the brothers from Cervera will face each other on equal terms: both will race with the Desmosedici GP26.
A promotion earned through results: this is the phrase that best describes Ducati’s decision to also entrust Alex Marquez with a factory bike for next season. Rider #73 has been a key figure in 2025, winning two full-length races and collecting 330 points in sixteen rounds.
The official news came today through a statement from the Gresini Team. As a result, next year there will be four Desmosedici GP26s on the grid (two for the Ducati Lenovo Team, one for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, and one for Alex, who will continue racing under the colors of Nadia Padovani’s team).
Alex Marquez’s words
“It’s an honor to race with a factory bike within the Gresini team. The team has worked impeccably for many seasons, and I believe this is a reward for all of us — for myself and the entire crew. It’s another step toward our dreams and to do even better in 2026. I want to thank Nadia, the team, and of course Gigi and Ducati, who have made me feel important at all times.”
Nadia Padovani’s words
“This is huge news for Gresini Racing. I want to thank Ducati and Engineer Dall’Igna for the trust they’ve placed in Alex and our team. The results achieved this year, and in previous seasons, have led us to this major milestone. We’re happy that Alex will have a factory bike starting next year. As a team, we’re ready to take another step toward excellence. 2025 will be an unforgettable year, and 2026 already excites us greatly.”
Luigi Dall’Igna’s words
“Alex Marquez’s season has been truly impressive. After a series of evaluations, Ducati Corse has decided to further increase its support so that the rider and the entire work group can continue to grow. Alex is making the most of the Desmosedici GP’s potential, and we are confident that, with new updates, we’ll continue improving together next year. He will be an added value for the entire Ducati system.”
