According to reports mainly from RMC Motori, his management has held talks with McLaren, Aston Martin, and Mercedes to evaluate options starting from 2027, a pivotal year for Formula 1 with new technical regulations coming in.
This move confirms that the Monegasque, tied to Ferrari until the end of 2026, is already planning his long-term future in the sport: the new regulations are a big unknown, and with his immense talent, he can’t afford to leave without a world championship title.

At Maranello, work is underway to avoid being caught off guard if Leclerc leaves. Among the possibilities under consideration is securing Oscar Piastri, the current championship leader and one of the brightest young talents, or even a major move to lure Max Verstappen away from Red Bull.
A sensational return for Carlos Sainz, who left Ferrari at the end of 2024 for Williams, cannot be ruled out either.
Hamilton’s seat also uncertain: Bearman option for 2027?
The uncertainty also affects Ferrari’s other seat. Lewis Hamilton, who joined Ferrari at the start of 2025, has a contract until the end of 2026 and has yet to make a decision for 2027. Among the possible options, keep an eye on Ollie Bearman: the young Briton, making his official F1 debut with Haas alongside Esteban Ocon, has impressed and remains on Ferrari’s radar, especially considering his FDA background.
