The world champion has undergone successful surgery on his right shoulder in Madrid — rehabilitation now begins, while Pirro will replace him in Australia
After further medical checks on his fractured right scapula, Marc Márquez underwent a successful operation at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid.
The decision came after the same medical team that examined him a week ago found no improvement in the fracture of the coracoid process and the ligaments of the right shoulder, despite immobilization. Doctors, assessing the risk of permanent instability, therefore opted for surgical stabilization and acromioclavicular ligament repair.
The 2025 World Champion, already discharged and back home, will now begin his rehabilitation process, with recovery time determining when he will return to the track.
Ducati expressed full support for its rider with a message of encouragement: “We wish you all the best, Champ!” For now, Michele Pirro will continue to replace Márquez in the factory team for the Australian GP, and most likely also for the next round in Malaysia.
Marc Márquez will return only when fully recovered, aiming to end what had been a stellar season — until his crash in Mandalika — on a high note.
