Intense heat and possible rain on Saturday will spice up the Texan weekend: Ferrari looks for redemption on a historically favorable track, while Verstappen aims to reignite the title fight
After Singapore, Formula 1 heads overseas for the United States Grand Prix — the 19th round of the 2025 World Championship. The Circuit of the Americas (Austin) will once again host the Sprint format, featuring a single practice session and a high-intensity weekend with two qualifying sessions, a Sprint, and the race.
Ferrari arrives in Texas hoping to turn things around after a difficult few weeks — both on and off the track — on a circuit where the Scuderia triumphed last year with a stunning 1–2 finish by Leclerc and Sainz (while Hamilton, now wearing red, was forced to retire). But with scorching temperatures and a risk of rain on Saturday, the weekend promises to be anything but easy.
US GP Weather: heat returns, but watch out for qualifying
The weekend will open with summer-like conditions and clear skies.
- Friday, October 17: sunny and around 27°C for FP1 and the Sprint Qualifying. Ideal conditions for teams, though they’ll have just one hour to find the right setup.
- Saturday, October 18: highs of 28°C, but scattered showers are expected in the afternoon and evening, potentially affecting the Sprint or qualifying.
- Sunday, October 19: race day will be sunny and hot at 30°C, with a dry track and virtually no rain risk.
The Texas heat and abrasive asphalt at COTA will make tire management a key factor, especially on a circuit that combines fast corners, heavy braking zones, and long straights.
