Marc Márquez fears a Jerez déjà-vu: recovery time could be much longer than initially thought.

According to Marca, Marc Márquez may be sidelined until the Sepang tests in February 2026. The nine-time world champion, who recently underwent surgery on his right shoulder, now risks missing not only the end of the season but also the Valencia tests — effectively bringing his 2025 campaign to a premature close.

Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll, who performed the operation, explained:

“An acromioclavicular dislocation causes a loss of joint contact between the acromion and clavicle. For athletes like Márquez, the preferred approach is arthroscopic surgery, which allows the dislocation to be reduced.”

Marc Márquez’s message to fans

Meanwhile, the Spanish rider reassured his fans on social media:

“Surgery done, everything went well. Thank you all for your messages and support! Recovery mode: ON! And don’t forget… WE ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS.”

Words of optimism — though they contrast with reports suggesting Márquez’s injury could be more serious than initially expected.
