Fred Vasseur speaks about Ferrari’s approach to the upcoming Austin weekend of the World Championship. The Scuderia must rise again after its recent disastrous results
A determined Fred Vasseur has re-emerged. Following what can only be described as a series of major setbacks for the SF-25 in the World Championship, the Frenchman addressed the team’s mindset and expectations for the Austin weekend during the usual team principals’ press conference.
On the American track in 2024, Ferrari celebrated a stunning one-two finish — arguably the team’s strongest display in the Vasseur era. Yet, one year later, the situation is drastically different.
Internal instability and comments ahead of Austin
Despite reports from the Daily Mail and other British media suggesting Vasseur’s future beyond 2026 remains uncertain, the matter does not appear to be a major concern within Maranello at the moment.
Despite significant challenges — many tied to ownership dynamics — Ferrari remains focused on the upcoming U.S. weekend, approaching Austin with cautious optimism. Fred Vasseur commented:
“After two street circuits, the COTA brings us back to a permanent track featuring a very interesting mix of corners.”
“The weekend will be even more demanding due to the Sprint format, which gives us only one free practice session before heading straight into competitive action”.
Finally, a reflection on the team’s current form — Ferrari has not reached the podium since the Belgian Grand Prix: “We know we haven’t fully exploited the potential of our package in recent races, but the team is united and fully determined to change course”.
