A post claiming the team’s Formula 2 debut in 2027 goes viral with over 37,000 likes: the passion for the F1 movie team is stronger than ever
The APX GP phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down. After taking over the big screen with the F1 movie, the team led by Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) is making headlines again — though this time, not in reality.
In recent days, an apparently official Instagram and X account for the “APX GP F1 Team” posted a highly realistic announcement claiming that APX GP would debut in Formula 2 in 2027 — and not in 2026, as previously “announced” by the same page:
“APXGP will make its debut in Formula 2 in 2027. This decision comes after changes in the driver lineup and the need to prepare a new structure to be competitive from day one.”
The post looked completely legitimate, with technical language and formal thanks to fans and sponsors. The result? Over 37,000 likes in just a few days, thousands of comments and shares, and many users convinced that the fictional racing team was actually joining the real motorsport world.
Of course, the news is fake: no official entry has been registered for Formula 2, and neither the movie’s production team nor the FIA are behind the account. However, this episode perfectly illustrates how APX GP has captured the hearts of fans — evolving from a simple cinematic creation into a genuine symbol of modern Formula 1 culture.
A case of fiction surpassing reality: four months after the movie’s release, fans are still dreaming of seeing APX GP’s colors on track. And judging by their reactions, if that day ever comes — even as a promotional stunt — the grid might not look that different from the one we saw on screen.
