A twist in the World Superbike paddock: Aegerter leaves Yamaha to join a new Kawasaki project in the intermediate class.

Although the championship has already concluded, the WorldSBK market is still open: the latest news concerns the future of Dominique Aegerter. The 35-year-old Swiss rider officially leaves Yamaha. After Stefano Manzi’s arrival, Aegerter’s chances of staying on the R1 had practically vanished.

Hence the decision to go back to his roots, in the very category where he shone just three years ago. Two WorldSSP titles (2021 and 2022) and a single goal for the future: to bring Kawasaki back among the top teams.

Dominique Aegerter’s words

“I’m really happy to be part of the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team. When I met Manuel Puccetti and Steve Gutteridge, I immediately realized it was the right choice since we share the same ambition: bringing Kawasaki back to the top.

The recent results of the ZX-6R 636 show the potential of this bike. I’m happy to return to WorldSSP, a category where I’ve achieved great results in the past, with two world titles and many victories. I know Manuel’s team also knows what it means to win races and championships. I can’t wait to get on my new bike, meet my technicians, and wear green again! Of course, I want to thank Kawasaki, my brother who took care of all the bureaucratic and contractual aspects, and all our sponsors.”

Manuel Puccetti’s words

“We are proud and honored to welcome Aegerter to our team, a three-time world champion in WorldSSP. We’re confident that together we can fight for the title since Dominique is one of the biggest names in this category. We’ll do our best to give him everything he needs to show his full potential and go for the championship. We’ll be back on track for the first tests with him at the end of the month in Jerez.”
