The production figures for 2025 compared to the previous year reveal the full extent of the Stellantis decline. Here are the data points defining the industrial crisis

The current state of Stellantis remains remarkably turbulent. Amidst significant leadership challenges and controversial management decisions, the most telling evidence lies in the performance metrics—and unfortunately, the latest figures paint a grim picture.

The Stellantis Crisis: 2025 Performance vs. 2024

In the opening days of 2026, Stellantis released its data for the 2025 fiscal year. This allows for an immediate comparison with 2024—a year that was already considered negative—specifically regarding vehicle production within the group’s Italian manufacturing plants.

Production Data by Italian Facility

According to the report from the FIM-CISL trade union, also cited by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the figures released by Stellantis Italy are staggering. Compared to December 31, 2023, the group has seen a dramatic 49.5% collapse in car production in just two years, plummeting from 751,000 to 391,000 vehicles.

When compared specifically to 2024, the downward trend continues with a 20% decrease, marking another significant retreat for the automaker. But where exactly did the most severe declines occur across the Italian peninsula?

The regional breakdown: The most disastrous results were recorded in Southern Italy. The Melfi (Potenza) plant reported a heavy -47% loss, while Pomigliano d’Arco (Napoli) saw a -22% decline.

The Bleak Industrial Balance: Italian Data

The crisis is not confined to the South; facilities in Central and Northern Italy are facing similar hardships. Atessa (Chieti) and Cassino (Frosinone) recorded declines of -13.5% and -28% respectively, while Modena also suffered a deep -23% contraction.

In an otherwise dismal industrial landscape, the only outlier is the Mirafiori plant. The Turin-based facility stands alone as the only site to report positive growth, showing a +16.5% increase in production.
