In the upcoming season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive, Christian Horner reportedly unveils the figures responsible for his dismissal from Red Bull

The saga between Christian Horner and Red Bull continues. The abrupt departure of the legendary Team Principal in mid-2025, after 20 years of service at Milton Keynes, sent shockwaves through the Red Bull organization and the entire F1 paddock.

Christian Horner in Drive to Survive reveals: “Jos has never been my greatest fan

Following a series of internal conflicts (as well as strictly “private” matters) with Red Bull management, the Briton was dismissed last July. It was a decision Horner clearly struggled to digest, as evidenced by his candid remarks to Netflix in an episode centered on his career and exit.

Horner’s Allegations and Accusations

The Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive has reached its eighth season. While frequently a subject of debate—and often criticized by Max Verstappen for being “unrealistic“—the series remains a global powerhouse with viewership numbers growing year after year.

With the new season set for release on Friday, February 27, previews have emerged from the Horner-focused episode, featuring pointed accusations from the former Red Bull CEO:
Max’s father, Jos, was never my biggest fan and has spoken out openly against me on several occasions.”

This comes as little surprise, given the public friction and Jos Verstappen’s subsequent disappearance from the Red Bull garage as early as mid-2024. However, Horner clarified his stance on the family’s involvement: ” But I don’t believe the Verstappens were responsible in any way. I think, ultimately, things changed within the company and the Group. After the passing of [founder] Dietrich Mateschitz, there was likely a feeling that I had acquired too much control “.

Without mincing words, Horner finally identified those he believes orchestrated his firing: “I believe this was a decision made by Oliver Mintzlaff, with Helmut Marko advising from the sidelines“.
