It is now official: the historic face of Pirelli in the Formula 1 paddock, Mario Isola, will leave the company starting July 1, 2026.
Almost a week before the start of the new Formula 1 season, major news shakes Pirelli, the sole tyre supplier of the sport’s top category. A few minutes ago, the Italian company announced that Mario Isola will step down from his current role to pursue new professional challenges as of July 1, 2026. However, beginning March 1, he will work alongside his successor, Dario Marrafuschi, on Formula 1-related activities to ensure a smooth transition.
Marrafuschi, who has been with Pirelli since 2008, will report directly to Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President Sustainability, New Mobility & Motorsport.

According to the company’s official press release:“Pirelli announces that, starting March 1, Dario Marrafuschi will take on the role of Head of Pirelli’s Motorsport Business Unit. For Formula 1 activities, in order to ensure the best and most effective transition in the role, he will be supported by Mario Isola until July 1, when Isola will leave the company to pursue new professional challenges. The Company thanks Mario Isola for his dedication and the great passion with which he has contributed over the years to the development of the Motorsport Business Unit “.
