A complicated start to the season for the British rider: injured during Race 2 at Phillip Island, he has to deal with two fractures. But here’s when he will return to the track.
Only ten days ago the crash at Phillip Island, today the determination to get back on the bike immediately. During the first round of the WorldSBK championship, a mistake at Turn 3 sent Sam Lowes into the gravel; medical examinations revealed a fracture to his left wrist and another to the fifth metacarpal bone of his hand.
However, between gym training and physiotherapy, his recovery seems to be going according to plan. As the rider himself stated, the goal is to take part in the Portimão tests scheduled for Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
Sam Lowes’ words:
“I really want to try to ride in the test because we want to continue working on the bike, as there are some things we didn’t try during the winter. In the test I’ll take it easy and rest between stints. So, as I said, I will ride in the test but the main focus will be the race. Fortunately, there’s still some time before the race weekend, so I can keep working hard to be ready for the second round.”
