Fabio Quartararo spoke after the Barcelona race, discussing, among other topics, the title won by Jorge Martin.

Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 MotoGP world champion, finished the season in a modest 11th place, more than ten seconds behind Bagnaia in first position. The Yamaha rider, who had been battling throughout the season with issues from the Japanese team, spoke to the microphones, praising Jorge Martin.

These are Quartararo’s words: “I think both Pecco and Jorge have had two incredible seasons, the last two (2023 and 2024), and I believe Jorge deserved it because he has matured a lot as a rider, as a person, and he really earned this title. And then, you know, when the factory team didn’t choose him and he had the courage to decide that it was better to leave the manufacturer… He really deserved the championship.”

The Yamaha rider, who was a rival to Pecco Bagnaia in 2022, added: “It’s been a long time, but I think, actually, I’m sure that everyone’s dream here is to be world champion. We know that in the end, there’s only one who can win, and I can imagine the feelings Jorge is experiencing today, but even until next month because you have to take every opportunity to celebrate, you have to do it, and I think it’s normal. You know when you’re world champion, but you don’t know when it will happen a second time, so he should celebrate until next year. “.

Regarding his own race, the Nice rider said: “We tested the hard tire, something we hadn’t done all weekend, and I think it was the right choice, but we didn’t have grip and Bezzecchi was in front of me with the soft tire. He was sliding all race, but in the end, he had more grip than me, so we clearly know what we’re missing and what we need to improve.

I think, honestly, we had one of my best races, and we finished just 10 seconds behind the leader, even though the position isn’t particularly good, but I think we can be happy with the race we managed to put together.”
