Felipe Massa, interviewed by Motorsport Brasil, spoke about the new driver of the Sauber Stake F1 Team.
Brazil will have its own driver in Formula 1 again after nine seasons. Gabriel Bortoleto, the reigning F2 champion, will be part of the top 20 drivers in the world and will race for Sauber, which, starting from the 2026 season, will become Audi thanks to the crucial entry of the Qatari fund.
The Brazilian talent, who has already made a name for himself by winning all the lower categories, has already been on track with Sauber during the post-season tests held in Abu Dhabi. It was his first experience and first run with the team, after fighting until the last race with Hadjar for the F2 World Championship.
On his performances and potential, the last Brazilian driver before Bortoleto himself, Felipe Massa, shared his thoughts. These were the words of the former Ferrari driver in an interview with Motorsport Brasil: “He is a very fast driver with great talent. In the categories where he has raced, he did different things in overtakes and was even more aggressive than the other drivers. A truly impressive speed. He has also made some mistakes, and this logically happens with drivers who have his style. An aggressive driver, a very fast driver, as we’ve seen with Verstappen, as we’ve seen with many drivers who have a similar style.”
