Xavier Marcos is embarking on a fresh career path! The Spanish engineer, formerly Charles Leclerc’s race engineer, has turned the page after Ferrari announced his departure at the start of the season, replacing him with Bryan Bozzi. Widely criticized for what was deemed an overly “soft” approach with Leclerc, and largely unmissed after Bozzi’s arrival, rumors in recent months had linked Xavier to Mattia Binotto’s Stake Sauber team. However, following the recent hiring of former Ferrari engineer Iñaki Rueda by Sauber, those speculations have now been put to rest.

Today marks a turning point for Xavier Marcos, as the Spanish engineer starts a new journey in motorsport following his dismissal from Ferrari in May. The official announcement confirms Xavier Marcos’ move to Cadillacnot the Cadillac preparing for its Formula 1 debut in 2026, but the endurance racing team competing in WEC. In this new role, Marcos will serve as the team’s Technical Director, focusing on track performance. His responsibilities will also extend to Cadillac’s IMSA operations, which include prototype and GT car categories.

Xavier Marcos’ career in Formula 1

This is a significant career shift for Marcos, who has been part of the Formula 1 paddock from 2010 to 2012, during which he worked as a performance engineer for HRT. Despite a low-profile stint due to HRT’s struggles in F1, Marcos moved on to Williams in the same capacity. Following an experience in NASCAR, Mattia Binotto brought him to Ferrari in 2019 to be Charles Leclerc’s race engineer, forming part of the team behind the SF-90.
