Fernando Alonso is preparing to face the upcoming season with a keen eye on 2026.
Twenty-four years after his debut in 2001, Fernando Alonso is getting ready to start the 2025 season with his usual energy and competitive drive. Aston Martin is undergoing a radical transformation, starting with the arrival of Adrian Newey, who will officially be operational from March.
The British team is also making moves in the driver market, with today’s news of a shocking offer for Max Verstappen, nearing one billion euros (200 million per season spread over five years). For now, these are just rumors, but Aston Martin’s plan is very clear: to fight for both world titles starting from 2026.
In the next two seasons, Fernando Alonso will certainly be part of the team. In a recent interview, he discussed the Spanish sports scene, starting with tennis. These were his words: “I don’t feel alone, there are still some of us who do what we love and represent Spain. However, with Rafa leaving, we are seeing a new generation of athletes aiming to carve out an important place in our sports landscape.”
The Asturian then added: “This is a unique sport, where the car matters more than the athlete. It’s evident when looking at Carlos Sainz Sr. in the Dakar or other categories. I hope to continue making my country proud for a little longer, and then it will be time to end.”
