Ferrari presents the SF-25: here are all the news about the new creation from the Prancing Horse

At the spectacular event in London, Ferrari unveiled the new car that will participate in the 2025 championship.

It marks a new chapter, inevitably historic, for Ferrari. This evening, during the spectacular event in London, the Prancing Horse first revealed the livery and then (through a rendering) the car that will take part in the 2025 Formula 1 championship.

A creature born from Project 677, completely revamped compared to the one that performed well for large parts of last season, and which, through a new vision, can and must fight for both World Championships. The track will provide the first answers during the tests (scheduled for next week in Bahrain), but the feeling is that the Red Team cannot hide in 2025: the objectives are more than clear.

The arrival of Lewis Hamilton represents the cherry on top of a cake that has its foundations in all areas of sports management, with significant renewal: from the new wind tunnel designed by Renzo Piano to the management of various sponsors by Benedetto Vigna, to the signing of the seven-time world champion, everything is in place to build a truly important season.

The first changes concern the aesthetic aspects of the car, with a darker shade of red (as confirmed by previous hints) and a significant return of white, reminiscent of the cars from the early 2000s and the 2016 model driven by Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. Regarding the color, as mentioned, there’s a return to matte red, similar to the F1-75, which performed so well in the first half of the 2022 season.

A car, the SF-25, which is 99% new, as repeatedly stated by Frederic Vasseur, and inevitably lays the foundation for the renewal of the engineering department and the various designers who have allowed Project 677 to evolve continuously with steady progress in the wind tunnel.

Let’s go into detail: the new Ferrari has a completely different structure compared to its predecessor, starting with the new chassis, extended by 25mm at the front, which accommodates the pull-rod suspension. Ferrari’s engineers have done an incredibly important and meticulous job, shifting the balance towards the rear to improve the car’s handling in both slow and fast corners.

The gearbox is also completely new, and it should be shorter than the current one, allowing Lewis Hamilton to use a more rearward gearbox, something he couldn’t achieve in his last two years at Mercedes. The front suspension uses a pull-rod design for strictly aerodynamic reasons, allowing for better airflow towards the floor of the car.

Notably, the front section has a slimmer nose compared to the SF-24, aiming to reduce drag. This choice is likely linked to what will happen starting from the Spanish Grand Prix, with modifications to the front flaps (and their flexibility) that will have to be redesigned according to regulations. A significant and visible change is the side pods, which are more sculpted to slightly increase the airflow towards the car’s floor.

At the top, there is a noticeable return of the undercut, which deepens as it moves towards the rear of the SF-25. The floor is an evolution of the one used in the final races of 2024, with a bargeboard closing the Venturi channel on the outside and the presence of a crest with four teeth, which will act as a vortex generator. No significant changes to the airbox, which remains triangular.

The rear suspension of the SF-25 remains pull-rod, with redesigned kinematics to improve traction grip, an essential component, especially in qualifying. The brakes use the Brembo 2024 system, which hasn’t been modified. The rear wing, entirely white, closely follows the Mercedes idea, particularly in the side mounts of the movable flap, which resemble those on the W15.
