Spectacular lap by Lewis Hamilton, who takes pole position for the Sprint of the Chinese Grand Prix, fourth place for Leclerc.
After the disappointment in Melbourne, Ferrari began the Shanghai weekend with the pole position for the Sprint race, secured by Lewis Hamilton. A first highlight, though not valid for the statistics, from the seven-time world champion, who set a time of 1:30.849. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, could only manage fourth place, behind Verstappen and Piastri.

This is Lewis’ comment after the Sprint Qualifying: “It was fantastic! I’m really happy with this result. We knew the car had more potential than what we saw in Australia, and here it showed from the first lap. The team has done a great job after Melbourne, and starting from pole for the Sprint is a good starting point, even though there is still a lot of work to do. Tomorrow will be my first real test in dry conditions with the SF-25. The other teams are fast, but we will keep fighting. I want to thank the Chinese fans for their incredible support: the energy they bring to every Grand Prix is amazing.”
Charles Leclerc had a bit more trouble and said to the press: “Today we couldn’t put everything together in SQ3. We struggled mainly in corners 1, 2, and 3, but overall the performance seems very close, and we’ll see where we are tomorrow. It’s not ideal to start from fourth, but I will give my best to fight. We will need to focus on tire management and then think about qualifying for Sunday’s race.”
